Otterly Lost is an upcoming cosy story-driven game where you play as a young and curious otter named Otto from Soulworks Interactive. Set on a mysterious and lush island, players will need to help Otto reunite with his family and friends after a recent storm. As you help Otto on his journey, you’ll find yourself gliding through canyons, diving into the shimmering ocean between the waves, and befriending a number of memorable critters as you help Otto find his way back home. You might also just help save the island while on this journey, too!

Otterly Exceptional Experience
Otters are one of my favourite animals and when I stumbled across Otterly Lost on Bluesky recently, I knew I had to dive in and have a look at the demo. From the get-go, you are welcomed with cosy and relaxing music while you discover how Otto ended up where he is as you start the demo.
Once you’ve got the low-down and caught up with what’s happened, heard about there being several different tablets you need to find to help regain balance in the world, you are on your way!
First up, I found myself in search of ingredients to make a salad. However, it wasn’t long before I was off exploring the open world. You may say, easily distracted, but I’d rather call it inspirational side quests. Anywho, I digress.

Talking of quests, you can keep track of multiple quests using Otto’s handy journal. I found this very useful as I also tend to forget what I was doing in a game easily. It was clearly laid out and easy to navigate between the multiple quests that I had going on at any one time. There was no overwhelming feeling of having to complete a quest there and then or in a particular order, I just worked through what I wanted to in that moment.
As you progress through the demo, you continue to make your way through the various quests. You’ll discover a variety of different locations relevant to the story, each with their own animal friends. I’ve made friends with goats and frogs, swam in the ocean, scaled walls, glided through the sky, collected trinkets and unlocked new friendships and tools to help me on my adventure.

Throughout my time with the Otterly Lost demo, I’ve not run into any obvious issues at all. Instead, I’ve been captivated by the game, the story and the visuals. A tale about an adorable otter trying to find their way back home and restore balance in the process. I love that I am able to experience the story at my own pace and not having to feel like I must rush through to get to the next stage.
Otterly Lost certainly is a cosy and wholesome game, driven by its narrative. I can’t wait to see what else Otto gets up to in his adventure of finding home and bringing everything back into balance when the full game launches later in 2026. Additionally, I feel this would be a great Steam Deck experience as well and would love to try it out on there too!
In the meantime, you can download the Otterly Lost demo from Steam and keep up to date with the game over on Bluesky!
